"Better Left in the Dark"
Peter Hodgson (Music) and Kathleen Wrinn (Words) are musical theatre writers, songwriters, musicians, and dramatists. Together, they create shows that are both a love letter and a thrown gauntlet to traditional musical theatre.
Peter and Kathleen met while attending NYU Tisch’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. There, they became fast friends, and when they heard each other’s music and lyrics for the first time, they fell hard (collaboratively speaking) and knew they had to write together.
Their first musical, THE BRIDGE, is based on the epic true story of the building of the Brooklyn Bridge and the wife of the Chief Engineer, Emily Roebling, who secretly led the work site for nearly a decade. The Bridge has been a two-time semi-finalist at the O’Neill’s National Music Theater Conference, a finalist for San Diego State University’s New Musical Initiative, and was developed in part through a residency awarded by the Catwalk Art Institute.
Their next show, THE LULLABY OF ROANOKE, is a musical retelling of the “lost colony” of Roanoke, one of the greatest mysteries in American history.
Hodgson and Wrinn’s songs have been performed at Joe’s Pub, 54 Below, the Duplex, NYU Tisch, and NYMF. They are both proud members of the Dramatists Guild of America.
